What Is Super Duplex 2507 Pipe?
Super Duplex 2507 pipe is manufactured from UNS S32750 stainless steel, a super duplex grade with a ferrite-austenite microstructure. It is commonly specified under ASTM A790 / ASME SA-790 for duplex stainless steel pipe. Depending on the application and order, the pipe may be seamless or welded.

- NPS (Nominal Pipe Size): A standardized size designation, not the pipe's measured outside diameter.
- Outside diameter (OD): The nominal external diameter used for dimensional matching and connection design.
- Schedule (SCH): A designation associated with nominal wall thickness at a given NPS. A higher schedule usually means a thicker wall for that size.
- Wall thickness (WT): A key input for pressure design, corrosion allowance, weight, and flow capacity.
For example, a 2-inch NPS 2507 pipe has a nominal outside diameter of 60.33 mm. Its listed wall thickness is 2.77 mm for SCH 10S, 3.91 mm for SCH 40S, and 5.54 mm for SCH 80S. These are nominal dimensions; permitted manufacturing tolerances must also be considered.
What is the wall thickness of 2507-grade SCH 40 pipe?
The wall thickness depends on the Nominal Pipe Size (NPS). For example, according to standard reference tables, an NPS 1 pipe with an SCH 40S wall thickness measures 3.38 mm; for NPS 2, it is 3.91 mm; and for NPS 4, it is 6.02 mm. Always verify the applicable dimensional standards.
What is the difference between Sch 40S and Sch 40 ?
Sch 40S (per ASME B36.19M) is the standard for pressure piping - it has slightly different wall thicknesses than Sch 40 (per ASME B36.10M, which is for structural pipe). For stainless and duplex steel pipe in process applications, always specify Sch 40S, not Sch 40.
Pressure Rating Of Super Duplex 2507 Pipe
For small-bore instrumentation tubing, published manufacturer data provide working pressures based on specified tubing dimensions, material condition, and design-code assumptions. The following values are for tubing, not standard NPS pipe, and must not be applied directly to ASTM A790 pipe.
