UNS S31600 Stainless Steel Knowledge

Description

UNS S31600 is a molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel that provides significantly improved corrosion resistance over S30400. The addition of 2.0–3.0% molybdenum enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, especially in chloride-containing environments such as coastal and marine applications. It offers good tensile strength, ductility, and toughness at both room and low temperatures. This grade is widely regarded as the next-level upgrade from 304 for applications requiring greater durability in chemical, food, and marine conditions. It remains formable and weldable, making it suitable for a broad range of critical components.
