UNS S31635 Stainless Steel Knowledge

Description

UNS S31635 is a titanium-stabilized molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel, based on the 316L composition. Titanium is added to prevent chromium carbide precipitation during welding and high-temperature exposure, ensuring excellent intergranular corrosion resistance. It combines the superior pitting corrosion resistance of the 316 family with stabilized performance in welded and high-temperature service. Unlike S31603, which relies on low carbon for stabilization, S31635 uses titanium, offering greater reliability under repeated heating and cooling cycles. It is widely used in demanding applications where both corrosion resistance and weldability are critical.

Advantages
