Overview

UNS S32109 is a high-carbon, titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel, engineered for high-temperature applications requiring exceptional creep strength and intergranular corrosion resistance. With a carbon content of 0.04-0.10% and 0.20-0.70% titanium, it combines high-temperature mechanical strength with resistance to intergranular corrosion, as titanium forms carbides to prevent chromium depletion during welding and high-temperature service. It contains 17.00-19.00% chromium and 9.00-12.00% nickel to maintain a stable austenitic structure, is non-magnetic, and has good weldability. This grade is suitable for continuous service at temperatures up to 850°C, making it ideal for high-temperature pressure vessels and heat-resistant components.

Chemical Composition (wt%)

C: 0.04-0.10, Cr: 17.00-19.00, Ni: 9.00-12.00, Ti: 0.20-0.70, Mn ≤ 2.00, Si ≤ 1.00, P ≤ 0.045, S ≤ 0.030

Typical Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition)

Tensile Strength (Rm): ≥ 515 MPa; Yield Strength (Rp0.2): ≥ 205 MPa; Elongation (A): ≥ 40%; Brinell Hardness (HB): ≤ 201

Core Advantages

High carbon content enhances high-temperature creep strength and mechanical stability; titanium stabilization prevents intergranular corrosion in welding and high-temperature service; excellent oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures (up to 850°C continuous service); non-magnetic; good weldability and formability; suitable for high-temperature pressure vessels and critical heat-resistant components.

Applications

High-temperature boilers, industrial heat exchangers, steam turbines, petrochemical reactors, nuclear power plant components, and high-temperature pressure vessels requiring creep strength and intergranular corrosion resistance.
