What is AISI 441 2D stainless steel coil?

AISI 441 Stainless Steel Coil is a low-carbon, dual-stabilized ferritic stainless steel with approximately 18% chromium, corresponding to other standards such as EN 1.4509, UNS S43932, and JIS SUS441. Its carbon content is only ≤0.03%, and structural stability is achieved through the addition of titanium (Ti) and niobium (Nb).

AISI 441 2D Stainless Steel Coil refers to the basic surface after cold rolling, characterized by a matte, uniform, non-reflective finish, commonly used as a base for further processing such as polishing, brushing, or embossing. Its overall corrosion resistance is comparable to 304/304L stainless steel, with outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Intergranular corrosion resistance is superior to conventional 430 and 409 stainless steels, and its high-temperature strength exceeds that of 409 and 439 ferritic grades, allowing long-term service at temperatures up to approximately 800°C.

Additionally, AISI 441 stainless steel coils offer excellent weldability, superior cold forming and deep drawing performance, and high precision for cutting and grinding, making them ideal for manufacturing complex industrial components.

AISI 441 stainless steel coil:2D VS 2B

Feature 2D Finish 2B Finish (Comparison)
Process Cold Rolled + Annealed + Pickled Cold Rolled + Annealed + Pickled + Skin Pass
Appearance Dull, Matte, Non-Reflective Smooth, Slightly Reflective/Bright
Roughness (Ra) Typically 0.5 – 1.5 μm Typically < 0.5 μm
Best Application Deep Drawing, Paint Bonding, Industrial Aesthetics, Household Appliances, Panels
Lubricant Retention High (Excellent for stamping) Moderate

When ordering AISI 441 for exhaust manifolds or heat exchanger shells, always specify the Maximum Operating Temperature. While 441 is stable up to 850°C-950°C (oxidation limit), the 2D finish is preferred by manufacturers who perform heavy deformation because the matte surface.

AISI 441 2D Stainless Steel Coil price per kg

The price for an AISI 441 2D (cold-rolled, unpolished) stainless steel coil typically ranges from $1.45 to $2.30 per kg (£1.15 to £1.80/kg). The exact rate depends heavily on order volume, gauge (thickness), and global alloy surcharges.

AISI 441 2D stainless steel coil supplier

AISI 441 is widely used in exhaust systems. GNEE strictly adheres to the IATF 16949 automotive quality management system standard. Every roll of 2D surface 441 stainless steel undergoes rigorous intergranular corrosion testing and deep-drawing performance testing to ensure stability at 950°C.

We can provide ultra-thin precision-stamped strip with thickness tolerances as low as ±0.01mm and widths as narrow as 3mm, with clean, burr-free cuts, directly compatible with your automated welding lines.

High-quality packaging

Inner Core Protection: A cardboard or metal core is inserted inside the roll core to prevent it from collapsing under its own weight or stacking pressure.

Outer Protective Layer: Some lightweight packaging uses thickened honeycomb cardboard.

Each roll must have a clear label indicating: material (441 2D), heat number, coil number, weight (Gross/Net Weight), thickness and width tolerances, and supplier name.
