What is 1.4435 stainless steel?
1.4435 stainless steel, also known as X2CrNiMo18-14-3, is an austenitic stainless steel with a low carbon content. It is a higher-alloyed version of 1.4404 (AISI 316L) and is known for its excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride-containing and acidic environments. 1.4435 material usually used in petrochemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, chemical production plants and automotive industry. This grade is not a heat resistant grade and it is not suitable to use this grade in high temperatures.
What material is 1.4435 equivalent to?
1.4435 stainless steel is an austeniticy high corrosion resistance material. This grade is written as 1.4435 or 316LMo or X2CrNiMo18-14-3 according to EN norm. 1.4435 stainless usually compeared with 316L (1.4404) stainless steel grade.

Corrosion Resistance
1.4435 stainless steel contains 2-3% molybdenum (Mo), which effectively resists pitting and crevice corrosion. Compared to standard 304 stainless steel, 1.4435 also demonstrates greater stability in acidic (such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid) and alkaline environments.
What is the difference between 1.4404 and 1.4435 stainless steel?
1.4435 stainless steel is often compared to 316L (1.4404) stainless steel. 1.4435 material has higher chromium, nickel, and molybdenum content. Due to the combined effects of these elements, it is more corrosion-resistant than 316L (1.4404). It is also non-magnetic.
Is 1.4435 the same as 316L?
Yes, 1.4435 is a designation for 316L stainless steel, though it is a higher-alloyed, improved version of the standard 316L (1.4404). Both are low-carbon, austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum stainless steels, but 1.4435 offers enhanced corrosion resistance, particularly against pitting and crevice corrosion in acidic and chloride-containing environments, due to its higher molybdenum content and slightly different composition.
1.4435 Stainless Steel Product Form
Common product forms include sheet, plate, thick plate, seamless pipe, welded pipe, round bar, square bar, flat bar, cold-rolled strip, hot-rolled strip, and wire. It is widely used in the chemical, machinery, and construction industries.
