*-Small amounts of ferrite and/or martensite caused by cold deformation will increase the magnetizability.
1.4372 Stainless Steel: Applications
include the automotive industry, solar energy systems, metal products, home appliances, precision electronics, mechanical manufacturing, elevators, sanitary ware, pressure vessels, nuclear power, catering equipment and kitchenware, chemical equipment, consumer electronics, food processing machinery, structural tubing, and railway rolling stock.
1.4372 Stainless Steel: High-Temperature Resistance
This material exhibits excellent oxidation resistance and processing characteristics, making it suitable for use in high-temperature oxidizing environments such as in thermocouple protection tubes. At 800°C, it retains sufficient long-term strength, along with good resistance to thermal fatigue and carburization. It is also easily weldable and amenable to cold stamping and forming.
1.4372 Stainless Steel: Processability
This alloy possesses excellent plasticity during hot working processes and exhibits good deformation characteristics. The recommended heating temperature for forging is 1170°C, with a finishing forging temperature of 900°C.
The material becomes magnetic following cold working. It is a single-phase austenitic, solid-solution-strengthened alloy that demonstrates moderate thermal strength and good thermal fatigue resistance below 800°C, as well as good oxidation resistance below 1000°C.
1.4372 Stainless Steel: Weldability
1.4372 stainless steel can be welded using TIG (argon arc) welding, spot welding, or seam welding. It exhibits excellent weldability, with a low susceptibility to cracking during TIG welding.
1.4372 Stainless Steel: Heat Treatment Specifications
Solution Treatment: 1010–1120°C, followed by rapid cooling. After heat treatment, any oxide scale present on the surface of the components can be removed via sandblasting or acid pickling.
