Are you looking for high-quality 304L stainless steel electric fusion welded (EFW) piping solutions for corrosion-resistant industrial applications? We successfully delivered a batch of ASTM A358 Class 1 304L stainless steel EFW pipes to a leading industrial processing company in Iran. This project required 304L stainless steel EFW pipes with excellent corrosion resistance, stable mechanical properties, and compliance with international standards, and our solution perfectly met these requirements.

🔹Customer Background

Industry: Industrial Processing/Chemical Transport Pipelines
Location: Iran
Pipeline Material Requirements: ASTM A358 CL1 304L EFW Stainless Steel Pipe

Project Challenges:
1. The pipeline needs to be exposed to corrosive fluids and humid environments.
2. Reliable welding quality and long-term performance are required.
3. Strict adherence to ASTM/ASME standards is necessary.

"We need a 304L EFW stainless steel pipe system that can withstand chemical corrosion and ensure zero leakage under continuous operation conditions," said the project engineer.

🔹Requirements and Specifications

Standard: ASTM A358/A358M, Grade 1 Electric Fusion Welded Pipe
Material Grade: 304L (Low Carbon Austenitic Stainless Steel)
Diameter Range: Custom sizes based on project specifications
Wall Thickness Grade: SCH40S / SCH80S (as required)

Core Requirements:
The 304L stainless steel pipe must exhibit excellent corrosion resistance in chemical environments. The welded pipe integrity must be verified by radiographic testing (Grade 1 quality) in accordance with ASTM A358 pipe standards, suitable for high-temperature and general applications.

🔹Our Solution

Product Supplied: ASTM A358 CL1 304L Electric Fusion Welded Pipe
Manufacturing Standard: Electric fusion welding conforming to ASTM A358 standard, with welding quality level 1.

Main Features of 304L:
ASTM A358 CL1 304L is an electric-fusion-welded (EFW) austenitic stainless steel pipe specification for high-temperature and corrosive service. Class 1 denotes it is double-welded using filler metal in all passes and 100% radiographed, while 304L indicates a low-carbon, corrosion-resistant alloy suitable for welded components.

Quality Assurance:
All welds are radiographically tested (Level 1)
Hydrostatic testing performed before shipment
Material Test Certificates (MTC 3.1/3.2) provided

🔹Why is 304L preferred over 304 for welded pipes?

The primary reason for choosing 304L over 304 for welded pipes is that 304L (low-carbon) effectively prevents intergranular corrosion after welding. 304L has a very low carbon content (≤ 0.03%), while 304 has a higher carbon content (≤ 0.08%). High welding temperatures can easily lead to carbide precipitation, causing a "chromium depletion" phenomenon. 304L avoids this defect, improving the corrosion resistance and service life of the welded joint.

🔹Project Results & Performance

This project's 304L stainless steel EFW piping has been successfully installed, and professional testing has confirmed that all technical indicators meet the client's specifications 100%. The piping system has been operating stably for 18 months without any leaks or corrosion-related failures. The welds passed 100% non-destructive testing with a 100% success rate. The overall operational reliability is more than 35% higher than the original piping installation plan, and the maintenance costs of the piping system in the later stages of the project have been reduced by 42%.
A senior engineer at an industrial facility in Iran highly praised the project: "Their 304L EFW piping has saved us from frequent maintenance and ensured the safe operation of the piping system under harsh conditions."
