What is Duplex 2205 Stainless Steel plate ?
Duplex 2205 stainless steel plate is a nitrogen-strengthened duplex stainless steel that combines the excellent properties of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steels. The chemical composition of 2205 stainless steel is approximately 22% chromium, 5-6% nickel and 3% molybdenum. Compared with 316L and 317L, it has excellent strength, excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.

What is the difference between 2205 ss plate and 316L?
The yield strength of 2205 stainless steel is ≥450MPa (twice that of 316L stainless steel), the tensile strength is ≥620MPa, and the fatigue resistance is outstanding, which is suitable for high pressure and high load conditions (such as pipelines and pressure vessels). Avoid brittle fracture and meet the needs of polar or deep cold equipment.
2205 Duplex Steel Weldability and Heat Treatment
Choose ER2209 welding wire, the current is 10%-15% lower than that of 304 stainless steel, the interlayer temperature is ≤150℃, and no heat treatment is required after welding. Avoid staying at 300-500℃ for a long time, the solution treatment temperature is 1020-1100℃, and rapid water cooling is used to maintain the duplex balance.
