202 stainless steel bar is a typical product of 200 series austenitic stainless steel. It has high manganese and low nickel (Mn 7.5-10.0%, Ni 4.0-6.0%) as the core components. The strength is improved by nitrogen strengthening. It has low cost, good cold workability and moderate corrosion resistance. It is an economical alternative to 304 stainless steel and is suitable for industrial and decorative scenarios that do not require high corrosion resistance but need to control costs.

What is the difference between 202 stainless steel bar and 304 stainless steel?
304 stainless steel has better corrosion resistance, especially pitting resistance, intergranular corrosion resistance and strong acid and alkali resistance than 202 stainless steel. 202 stainless steel can obtain higher strength through cold working, but its toughness and ductility are slightly inferior to 304 stainless steel. Due to the lower nickel content, the price of 202 stainless steel bar is usually about 30% - 40% lower than that of 304 stainless steel bar.
What is the processing performance of 202 stainless steel bar?
202 stainless steel bar has good processing performance. It has good ductility and is suitable for forming processes such as bending and stamping. It can be made into parts of various shapes. However, after cold working, its hardness will increase. When cutting, it is necessary to use appropriate tools and processing parameters. It is recommended to use high-speed steel (HSS) tools, cutting speed ≤60m/min, and emulsion cooling.
