17-4PH stainless steel channels (UNS S17400 / ASTM A564) are high-strength, precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel profiles produced through hot rolling, delivering excellent mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and dimensional stability. They are widely used in aerospace frames, high-load structures, chemical plants, and defense systems where performance under stress and precision are critical.
Advantages
The UNS S17400 stainless steel U-channel is produced through hot rolling at 1040°C, which eliminates residual stress from cold working and refines the grain size to ASTM No. 8 or finer. This results in a 15% improvement in fatigue resistance compared to cold-formed channels, making it ideal for high-frequency vibration environments such as bridge supports and compressor bases.
The ASTM A564 17-4PH channel bar, in the H900 condition, delivers an exceptional tensile strength of up to 1310 MPa and a yield strength of up to 1170 MPa, which is 2–3 times higher than 304 or 316 stainless steel. With a hardness range of HRC 28–44, it combines high strength with good ductility, making it an excellent choice for aerospace structures, turbine frames, oil and gas equipment, and chemical plant supports.
