301 Hot Rolled Stainless Steel U channels (UNS S30100) is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy with lower nickel content than 304, offering increased work-hardening capability and higher tensile strength after forming. When processed through hot rolling, the result is a U channel with refined grain structure, better mechanical properties, and uniform stress distribution.
Advantages
301 hot rolled stainless steel U profiles perform excellently in atmospheric environments but have lower resistance to chloride corrosion compared to 304. They are suitable for dry or mildly humid conditions. SS 301 U-shaped structural sections can significantly increase strength through cold working (with tensile strength reaching over 1000 MPa), making them ideal for manufacturing springs, fasteners, and other components requiring high fatigue resistance.
301 stainless steel channel bars are priced 15-20% lower than 304, making them suitable for large-scale procurement projects with cost sensitivity.
