316 stainless steel cold-formed C channels (UNS S31600) is an austenitic stainless steel containing 2-3% molybdenum (Mo). It is priced 10-15% higher than 304 cold-formed C channels but offers more than twice the service life in highly corrosive environments. The term "C channel" refers to its cross-sectional shape, featuring a central web with two vertical flanges forming an open "C" profile. This design makes it ideal for structural supports, frames, and tracks.
Advantages
The height tolerance of 316 stainless steel C channels is ±1.0 mm, flange width tolerance is ±0.8 mm, and straightness is ≤2.5 mm/m, meeting the assembly requirements of precision equipment. After cold forming, the surface remains crack-free, and the mechanical properties retain over 95% of the base material's strength (tensile strength ≥ 520 MPa, elongation ≥ 40%).
The density of 316 stainless steel structural profiles is 7.93 g/cm³, which is 15% lighter than carbon steel. At the same strength, material usage is reduced by 20%, lowering transportation and installation costs.
316 stainless steel channels can be processed into curved, Z-shaped, or variable-section U channels to meet architectural curtain wall requirements. After cold forming, they support electropolishing (Ra ≤ 0.2 μm) or mirror polishing, making them suitable for direct use in food-grade and medical-grade high-cleanliness environments.
