What is 1.4410 material?
1.4410 is a Super Duplex stainless steel, also known by its UNS number S32750 or ASTM F53, known for exceptional strength and superior corrosion resistance, especially against chloride stress corrosion cracking in aggressive environments like marine or chemical processing, due to its high chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen content, offering properties better than standard duplex steels.
What is the equivalent grade of 1.4410?
1.4410 Super duplex stainless steel is the most widely used super duplex stainless steel grade. This grade is written as 1.4410 or X2CrNiMoN25-7-4 according to EN norm and it is written as UNS S32750 of SAF 2507 or F53 according to UNS norm. We can think that 1.4410 is a better version of 1.4462 duplex grade.
What is the chemical composition of 1.4410?
1.4410 is a super duplex stainless steel (like Alloy 2507/UNS S32750) known for high strength and corrosion resistance, primarily composed of ~25% Chromium, ~7% Nickel, ~4% Molybdenum, and ~0.27% Nitrogen, with Iron (Fe) as the base, plus controlled amounts of Carbon, Silicon, Manganese, Phosphorus, Sulfur, and Copper.

Processing Of Alloy 1.4410
Cold Working:1.4410 Duplex Stainless Steel can be cold worked to achieve desired shapes and sizes, although it requires more force compared to austenitic grades due to its higher strength.
Hot Working: Should be performed at temperatures between 950-1150°C. Post-process annealing is recommended to restore its optimal properties.
Welding: Can be welded using standard welding methods like GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and SAW. Post-weld heat treatment may be required to ensure corrosion resistance.
1.4410 VS. 1.4462 :What's The Difference?
The main difference is that 1.4410 is a super duplex stainless steel, while 1.4462 is a standard duplex stainless steel. This means 1.4410 has higher levels of chromium (around 25% vs. 22%), nickel, and molybdenum, resulting in significantly better corrosion resistance and higher strength. Consequently, 1.4410 is used for more demanding environments, while 1.4462 offers a good balance of strength and corrosion resistance for more general use.
What is the difference between 1.4410 and 1.4401?
1.4410 is a super duplex stainless steel that, due to its higher chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen content, exhibits significantly improved strength, pitting corrosion resistance, and stress corrosion cracking resistance, making it more suitable for harsh chemical/marine environments. In contrast, 1.4401 (316) is a standard austenitic stainless steel with good general corrosion resistance but lower mechanical properties, suitable for general purposes, but prone to stress corrosion cracking in chloride environments.
