Overview: 316H is the high-carbon variant of 316 stainless steel, with a carbon content of 0.04-0.10%. It integrates the corrosion resistance of 316 (via molybdenum) with enhanced high-temperature strength and creep resistance, suitable for high-heat, corrosive environments.
Chemical Composition (wt%): Chromium (Cr): 16.0-18.0; Nickel (Ni): 10.0-14.0; Molybdenum (Mo): 2.0-3.0; Carbon (C): 0.04-0.10; Manganese (Mn): ≤2.00; Silicon (Si): ≤1.00; Phosphorus (P): ≤0.045; Sulfur (S): ≤0.030; Iron (Fe): Balance.
Typical Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition): Tensile Strength: ≥515 MPa; Yield Strength: ≥205 MPa; Elongation: ≥40%; Hardness (Brinell): ≤217 HB.
Core Advantages: Improved creep resistance and high-temperature strength (suitable for elevated temperatures up to 800°C); molybdenum-enhanced corrosion resistance vs. 304H; good formability and weldability; austenitic structure for stable performance at high temps.
Applications: Chemical processing equipment, petrochemical refinery components, high-temperature furnaces, marine parts exposed to both high temperatures and corrosive media, heat exchangers, and steam turbines.
Equivalent Grades: UNS S31609; EN 1.4406; JIS SUS316H; GB/T 07Cr17Ni12Mo2.
