321 Stainless Steel: Titanium-Stabilized Alloy For High-Temperature Welded Applications

Overview: 321 stainless steel is a titanium-stabilized austenitic alloy, similar to 304 but with added titanium to prevent intergranular corrosion. It is designed for welded components and high-temperature service, eliminating the need for post-weld annealing.

Chemical Composition (wt%): Chromium (Cr): 17.0-19.0; Nickel (Ni): 9.0-12.0; Titanium (Ti): 5×C to 0.70; Carbon (C): ≤0.08; Manganese (Mn): ≤2.00; Silicon (Si): ≤1.00; Phosphorus (P): ≤0.045; Sulfur (S): ≤0.030; Iron (Fe): Balance.

Typical Mechanical Properties (Annealed Condition): Tensile Strength: ≥515 MPa; Yield Strength: ≥205 MPa; Elongation: ≥40%; Hardness (Brinell): ≤201 HB.

Core Advantages: Excellent intergranular corrosion resistance (titanium-stabilized); good oxidation resistance (continuous service up to 925°C, intermittent up to 900°C); no post-weld annealing needed; good weldability and formability.

Applications: Power station components, food processing equipment, film and photo industry instruments, high-temperature exhaust systems, welded structures in chemical and petrochemical industries, and aircraft parts.
