EN 1.4404 (equivalent to X2CrNiMo17-12-2 and AISI 316L) square tube is a high-quality austenitic stainless steel product. It complies with EN 10217-7 (welded stainless steel tubes for pressure purposes) and EN 10296-2 (welded stainless steel tubes for general purposes) standards, and is widely used in marine engineering, chemical piping, food processing equipment, offshore structures, and architectural decoration.
The EN 1.4404 tubes supplied by GNEE are manufactured through cold drawing, seamless welding, and solution annealing (1050–1100°C followed by rapid cooling), ensuring a uniform structure, smooth surface (Ra ≤ 0.8 μm), and freedom from defects such as cracks or inclusions.
EN 1.4404 stainless steel square tubes offer a tensile strength of 500–700 MPa, yield strength ≥ 220 MPa, elongation ≥ 40%, and Charpy V-notch impact energy ≥ 60 J at -20°C. These properties provide an excellent combination of toughness and durability, making them suitable for long-term service.

What is the primary difference between EN 1.4404 and EN 1.4301 square tubes?
The main difference is the addition of Molybdenum (2.0–2.5%) in 1.4404. This element significantly enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich environments (e.g., seawater, de-icing salts, and chemical vapors). While 1.4301 is suitable for general use, 1.4404 is the requirement for marine or high-acid industrial applications.
