A: 904L contains more than twice the nickel content of 316L, in addition to expensive molybdenum and copper. Although the initial investment is higher, in highly corrosive environments, 904L offers extremely low maintenance costs and an equipment service life that is 3 to 5 times longer than that of 316L, thereby significantly reducing the risk of downtime caused by equipment replacement.

A: We recommend using ER385 welding wire for 904L. Due to its high coefficient of thermal expansion, we advise keeping the interpass temperature below 150°C to prevent hot cracking.
