Our ASTM A213 TP304 stainless steel seamless tubes contain approximately 18%–20% chromium and 8%–11% nickel. Utilizing a seamless manufacturing process eliminates the weld seam, which minimizes the risk of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) and leakage under cyclic pressure. Furthermore, its resistance to stress corrosion cracking is enhanced by more than 60% compared to welded tubing.
Additionally, all ASTM A213 TP304 stainless steel round tubes undergo full solution annealing at temperatures exceeding 1040°C, maintaining the hardness below 90 HRB. This ensures that demanding operations such as flaring, flanging, and tube expanding will not cause cracking during customer fabrication. Performing reliably at temperatures up to approximately 870°C for continuous service and 925°C for intermittent service, these tubes are widely utilized in power generation, petrochemicals, food processing, pharmaceutical equipment, pressure vessels, and industrial heat exchangers.

Are TP304 and TP304L interchangeable?
TP304L is the low-carbon version (C ≤ 0.030%); it is primarily used in applications requiring welding, as it prevents intergranular corrosion in the heat-affected zone. The mechanical strength (tensile and yield) of TP304 is slightly higher than that of TP304L.

Q.What is the difference between ASTM A213 TP304 and ASTM A312 TP304?
A.ASTM A213 TP304 is designed specifically for boilers, superheaters, and heat exchangers. It imposes stricter dimensional tolerances (regarding wall thickness and outside diameter) and mandates hardness, flaring, and flattening tests.
ASTM A312 TP304 is suitable for general corrosive environments and high-temperature piping systems. While hydrostatic or nondestructive testing is required, tests for workability/toughness (such as flaring) are not mandatory.
Q.What does "Minimum Wall" mean under ASTM A213 requirements?
A: Under the A213 standard, unless otherwise specified in the purchase contract, delivery is typically made based on minimum wall thickness by default. This means that the actual wall thickness of the tubing is strictly prohibited from having a negative tolerance; while the wall thickness may exceed the specified value, it must never fall below the agreed-upon minimum dimension. Regarding outside diameter, a deviation (tolerance) of ±0.004 to ±0.015 inches is generally permitted, depending on the tubing size.
