What is SUS440C SS High Strength Steel Rod ?
SUS440C SS high-strength steel bar complies with JIS G4303 (Japanese Industrial Standard), corresponding to 440C stainless steel of ASTM A276 in the United States. It is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel with high strength, high hardness and excellent wear resistance. It has a high carbon content and can reach a hardness of HRC58-62 after quenching and tempering.

The weldability of SUS440C stainless steel bar is high in carbon content, and cracks are easily generated during welding. It needs to be preheated (200–300°C) and the cooling rate is controlled. Annealing treatment is recommended after welding. The corrosion resistance in strong acid and alkali environments is weaker than that of austenitic stainless steel (such as 304), and it is suitable for neutral or weakly corrosive media.
SUS440C stainless steel cold-rolled bar is easy to process in the annealed state, and has high hardness after quenching. It needs to be cut with carbide or CBN tools.
